Tany Norwood Award Fall 2008 Nominations
In Fall 2006, the Friar Society created an award to recognize outstanding contributions to student life made by a staff member or an administrator. The annual award was named the Tany Norwood Award after the organization’s long time advisor and assistant dean of students. The Friar Society is now accepting nominations for the 2008 award. Nominations are welcome from any member of the university community. The nomination form [.doc] must be received by 5:00pm on Thursday, October 9, 2008 to the Friar Society mailbox at the Student Organization Center on the 4th floor of the SSB OR via email to Abbot Nicole E. Trinh (netrinh@austin.utexas.edu). The recipient will be announced on November 8, 2008 at the Friar Cocktail Reception.
The Friar Society is the oldest and most prestigious honor society at The University of Texas at Austin. Since 1911, the Friar Society has recognized students who have made significant contributions to the university. Distinguished Alumni of the Friar Society include U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett, CNN Political Strategist Paul Begala, Heisman Trophy Winner Earl Campbell, UT System Regent Cyndi Krier, among many others.
