Tany Norwood Award Fall 2008 Nominations

In Fall 2006, the Friar Society created an award to recognize outstanding contributions to student life made by a staff member or an administrator. The annual award was named the Tany Norwood Award after the organization’s long time advisor and assistant dean of students. The Friar Society is now accepting nominations for the 2008 award. Nominations are welcome from any member of the university community. The nomination form [.doc] must be received by 5:00pm on Thursday, October 9, 2008 to the Friar Society mailbox at the Student Organization Center on the 4th floor of the SSB OR via email to Abbot Nicole E. Fall 2008 Membership Applications

The Friar Society proudly announces its release of the Fall 2008 Membership Application [.doc]. The only prerequisite for applicants is the completion of 75 undergraduate hours or to be a graduate student. Any individual who has made an outstanding commitment to serving the University of Texas and fulfills the prerequisite is encouraged to apply. Applications must be received by 5:00pm on Thursday, October 9, 2008 to the Student Organization Center on the 4th floor of the Student Services Building. Accepted members are asked to attend the Friar Reunion Weekend set for November 8-9, 2008. Read the full article.

Fall 2008 Friar Reunion Weekend

UPDATE: Due to the early kick-off time (11:00am) of the Texas vs. Baylor game this Saturday, the cocktail reception will begin AFTER the game. The original time was set for 2-hours before kick-off but in order to accommodate those traveling to Austin that morning, the event will begin immediately following the game or at 3pm, whichever may come first. Dr. G. Howard Miller Honored as the 2008-2009 Friar Centennial Teaching Fellow

The University of Texas at Austin Friar Society awarded Distinguished Teaching Associate Professor of History G. Howard Miller, the 2008-09 Friar Centennial Teaching Fellowship on Monday, April 14. The $15,000 award is the university's largest for undergraduate teaching excellence. Read the full article.
